Share your experience of sexual violence in healthcare

What do we mean when we say

- rape.

Nonconsensual penetration through physical force, manipulation, stress, or fear; the experience of sex as the unwanted physical, emotional, mental or spiritual violation of sexual boundaries. Keep in mind: penetration does not necessarily implies a penis but can also include objects or other body parts such as fingers.

- sexual assault.

Any unwanted physical, emotional, mental, or spiritual violation of sexual boundaries.

- sexual violence.

This is not used as a legal term
but an umbrella term that means that someone forces or manipulates someone else into unwanted sexual activity without their consent.

- sexual assault.

Acts that are sexual in nature, from unwanted touching and kissing, to rubbing, groping or forcing the victim to touch the perpetrator in sexual ways.

- sexual harassment.

Unwanted sexual attention: unwanted touching, hugging, stroking, kissing, relentless pressure for dates or sexual behavior.

Bear in mind, these definitions can overlap.
