About the event
For the past few months we've seen more space to talk about sexual violence. However, as a society we have not come up with ways to deal with such violence. the most common response is to involve police and the criminal law system. however, from our own experiences we know how dehumanizing this experience is for a survivor. without any accountability for the person doing harm. not to forget the structural oppressions that involving the police or criminal law system feeds into. for instance, racism, transphobia and ableism.
In line with the principles of what is called 'transformative justice' we have been inspired by black, queer and native feminists in the us. with their help and knowledge we will be giving workshops in which we train each other on how reduce or stop violence and hold the person doing harm as well as our communities accountable.
